La Ventana 533

LA VENTANA 533 ART PLATFORM LA VENTANA 533 is a visual arts platform established in response to the simultaneous crises of COVID-19 and our nation's intensified quest for racial justice. Its purpose is to affirm the power of visual expression to heal and uplift the human spirit in times of suffering and dislocation. Translated from Spanish, the words "la ventana" mean "the window." By displaying artists' works in a picture window located at 533 Manhattan Avenue in Harlem, LA VENTANA 533 enables individuals to engage with art directly while remaining compliant with social distancing requirements. The organizers hope that viewers will come away energized to imagine and construct a more equitable society.
